Aku
pernah dapat tugas book report, semacam summary gitu. Buku yang aku baca waktu
itu judulnya ‘90 Minutes in Heaven’. Ngeliat kata ‘Heaven’ di sana, bikin
akunya penasaaaaaaaran banget.
Inggris. Yang Bahasa Indonesia akan aku postingan nantinya.
90
Minutes in Heaven – Don Piper and Cecil Murphey
Don
Piper, father of three children, has been an ordained minister since 1985. He
died for 90 minutes on January 18, 1989. He regularly shared his story of going
to heaven. Don’s wife, Eva, patiently stayed by his side during his dark
periods. David Gentiles, Don’s closest friend, was so kind that he motivated
Don the most until Don got complete recovery nearly two years after the
accident.
And
here his story started…
Don
was heading back to Alvin after three days staying at Texas. When he was
passing the bridge, a truck, which came from the different way, struck his red
Ford. Everything around him faded and turned white. He found himself alone in
Heaven before he recognized a crowd coming toward him. Family, friends, and
other relatives came to welcome him. Everyone he met, looked happy and they
seemed to know each other. He was not conscious of anything he had left behind
and felt no regrets about leaving his family or possessions. It was as if God
had removed anything negative or worrisome from his consciousness. After a time,
the crowd started moving together right up the dazzling gate. Inside the gate,
he saw a view of a city with paved streets. The streets had been constructed of
literal gold. As he had arrived at a place he had wanted to visit for a long
time, he surely stepped forward; However, just as he had arrived at the gates
of Heaven, he left them. Ninety minutes in Heaven had past. He was back to
life. Just ninety minutes after he was declared dead, he was alive. Things he
remembered were people rushing around trying everything to save him. His left
arm went over the top of his head, was dislocated, and swung backward over the
seat. His left leg was shattered in two places between the car seat and the
dashboard. He did not feel any pain until three hours after his arrival on
earth. His entire body groaned in agony, and he felt as if every part of his
body had been wounded, punched, or beaten. He was in surgery for eleven hours.
During the operation, he had the broken bone in his right leg set. His left
forearm had to be stabilized because two inches of each bone were missing. His
left leg was put into traction because four and a half inches of femur were
missing. On his sixth day, he was so near to death because he had developed
double pneumonia, and doctors did not think he would make it through the night.
God did not let Don meet Him. Don stayed alive and went through another 34
surgeries. During his recovery, he was unable to endure his pain and for a
couple of times, he nearly gave up his life. After he was discharged from the
hospital, he still had to go through therapies. Rapidly, he got well, and
finally, he could walk and started to be active in church again. He motivated a
lot of people who turned out to be at the same state as he once was. He
regretted being sent back to life and went through all the excruciating pain,
but now he had succeed in passing through his own dark periods. He found
purpose again in being alive. He is serving his purpose here on earth.
Aku
menyadari, bahwa kehidupan setelah kematian itu ada. Heaven absolutely exists
